Travelling with your dog can be great fun. When you have many places to go to with him, make sure he’s ready for it and that he has the right tools to make things easier for him. Pet ramps are one of these important tools that you should not leave without. Why? This tool is ultra useful for your pet when he gets off your boat, couch, or climbs up on your bed from your tile floor, especially for small dogs like Chihuahuas. This will be your way of keeping them away from injuries.

Pets are advised against jumping off or toward any elevated surface especially from heights that are too much for their size, built, and weight. Short-legged and stout pets are more likely to have joint and spine injuries when they are forced to jump on and off elevated areas. Fat pets are even more in danger. That is why a pet ramp is considered a necessary preventative instrument for your pet.

Some dog stairs are intended for domesticated pets. Majority of the pet ramps in the market are fixed and can only be used for specific heights. When you have many places to go with your pet, it’s better if you choose the multi-purpose that can be expanded for use in varying heights. Pet ramps are a great tool for your old, arthritic, and sick pets.

There are ramps that have cushions or foam covered and they are meant for your house cats. Your furry cat likes window watching or curling up in bed with you. A lightweight and portable pet ramp is just what you need which will allow you to move it from one place to another. You can look for one that’s thickly covered to avoid any scratches on your furniture.
Ramps can either be made of plastic or aluminum and some of them are folding or telescoping. There are some of types of ramps that can easily be folded and stored or used as half ramps for the pool. These ramps are made of high quality material that can hold enough weight for pets up to 200 lbs heavy. Pet ramps can be life savers when they are used for pet’s access if in any case it falls off the pool.

Whatever pet ramp you choose, you have to make sure that both ends are firmly attached to prevent movement and slippage that may cause further injuries for them. Sometimes you may have to press your foot on the ramp for your pet to cross safely. Other times nonskid pads should be used for slippery surfaces such as tiled and vinyl floors.

Because of a pet ramp’s significant use, it helps to train your pet in using it while he is still young and highly trainable.
