Puppy Supplies, The Essentials
Posted by dogstrollers in Puppy Supplies on April 12, 2009
It is always advisable to be well prepared before bringing your puppy home. There is nothing worse than realising, especially when stores are closed that you don’t have all the puppy supplies you need.
Like any new member of the family your puppy requires certain things. The first items to shop for will be feeding supplies, and these include bowls for water and food, as well as a high quality dry food especially formulated for puppies. Most puppy care manuals these days recommend you get a crate for your puppy, as they are very beneficial for training dogs. To make dog crates more comfortable line them with an old blanket or towel and this will make it much better for your puppy when sleeping.
A collar and leash are other good supplies to purchase before you bring your puppy home, as well as a few chew toys and grooming supplies like shampoo and nail clippers. To avoid your puppy chewing on the furniture having safe chew toys is recommended. Try and avoid toys made from rawhide as this can break off and get lodged in a small dog’s throat. A better alternative are Nylabone toys which are much safer.
